Right now in the wedding business we are all seeing guest lists shrinking. The couples I work with struggle with costs, budget and who should be excluded from their wedding invites. Should people and family that you never speak to be invited? Will not being invited cause hurt feelings and drama with family and friends?
The guest list is always one of the hardest pieces of the wedding, especially if you’re on a tight budget.
For many couples, their guideline for invites is basic; if they have not connected with that person in a year, they are not invited and no plus ones. I love this and it makes it simple.
Each guest now costs anywhere from $300-$500.00 for food, drinks, and seats so you probably want to make sure you really want that person at your wedding.
Today’s couples want an experience not just a wedding and with that experience they want an exclusive guest list. That guest list will only have the people in their lives that they have a relationship with.
The trend is here and I think it’s staying, I think its brilliant and it creates an atmosphere of love, support and intimacy.
That is what a wedding should feel like.
Cheers, Lisa
