Inflation and Wedding Costs

I am getting many questions about what to expect when you are planning your wedding in 2024 and 2025. Here are some real numbers across the nation and we are seeing an increase each year in every category, due to inflation.

The average cost of a wedding has increased by at least 16% from 2022 to 2024. So a wedding that cost $30,000.00 in 2022 is now $35000.00 in 2024.

For a wedding with 1-50 guests you can expect to spend =  $16,500.00 – $25,0000.00,

50-100 guests = $28,000.00 – $50,000.00,  150 guests = $45,000.00 – $65,000.00, over 200 = $65,000.00 – $85,000.00.

These numbers do depend on the area, what you choose for catering and the type of vendors you choose.

It is important to set your expectations on real numbers, that way you are not disappointed and  you don’t exceed your budget.

Inflation is hitting every area of our world and when you are having a wedding or event that inflation is multiplied by how many guests you are inviting.

If you have a tight budget and 35k or higher is not what you want to spend, here are some options.

  • Lower your guest count, less people will cost you much less across the board.
  • Do a small ceremony up to 30 and do not have a reception. Offer appetizers, cake, wine, beer and a champagne toast. Make it a fun happy hour celebration.
  • Do an elopement with just the two of you and then have a small reception with immediate family and close friends.
  • Elope with just the two of you but make it memorable with photography, great vistas and a picnic.
  • Select an all inclusive venue, this will save you a lot of money and stress.
  • Have a dry wedding and offer heavy Hors D’oeuvres instead of a complete meal.
  • Do a small ceremony and reception with 20-30 guests, serve pizza or have a taco bar, maybe a food truck with minimal alcohol.

These are all ideas that I am seeing couples choose.

There are definitely ways to cut back on your wedding budget and still have a beautiful memorable wedding without going into debt.
