Your Wedding Your Way

Nicole & Sean

There has definitely been a lot of shifting in the wedding world since Covid. When weddings opened back up in 2022 it was one of the biggest years for weddings in decades.

Since then weddings have ebbed and flowed with 2025 being one of the slowest years in decades.

Some of this is due to cost which has skyrocketed and some of this has to do with couples redefining what their wedding will look and feel like.

I am a wedding planner and venue owner and I hear constantly from couples that they want their guests to have an experience and they don’t want anything that looks like weddings in the past.

What exactly does this mean? Non traditional weddings without the typical timeline that reads like a church service. They also don’t want to spend all their time and be completely stressed out for a year planning the wedding. All inclusive weddings are really trending.

Most couples I work with want to mix it up and don’t want traditional activities.

They want things like;

  • Smaller guest counts so they can connect with everyone
  • No special dances
  • They want a first look with private vows
  • They want their favorite foods to be served
  • 50% don’t want cake cutting
  • Themed weddings are getting more popular
  • Early ceremonies with early end times and weekday weddings
  • A relaxed vibe with games and firepits

There will always be the big luxury weddings for those that can afford them but for everyone else we are seeing a shift in the planning, design and content of weddings.

I think, connection, the whole experience and budget reality is really driving the new weddings and I think it’s awesome!

Cheers, Lisa
